After our College Picks on Saturday, we will officially be at the 1/3 mark of the season. Let us recap the successes and surprises of the season so far:
Let's begin with the high notes. After finishing in 10th the year before, Dommie Kosar finds himself sitting atop the standings. He achieved this largely by going 2 for 2 on Vapor Locks. Golf Coach had the worst season ever last year, but currently finds himself sitting in fourth - only six units out of the lead. Achilles is also enjoying a great amount of success after a rough year last year. He is currently in fifth, well within striking distance.
It hasn't been all smiles and high fives. Just ask Gator. He came in as both the defending champion and all-time units leader. A 3-9 (-27 unit) start seemed an impossibility, but, alas, here we are. The good news is my guy did go 2-1 this past week. After a storied career in a minor league lock club, Lights Out came into the season an early favorite with huge expectations. No one could have foreseen a 4-7-1 start where two Vapors were lost. All of this has left the toughest guy in the league sitting in last at -28 units. Speaking of new guys, most of them have sucked as well. Bam Bam, Easy Money, Roy Betterman, J Brown's Mom, and Reaper are all well into the bottom of the standings. Thanks for donating, fellas.
As for Week 4, there are a few things worth mentioning. No one went 3-0 or 0-3. After climbing nine spots to the top of the leader board in Week 3, Meehoe fell 7 spots to 8th. This was the largest drop of the week. Dommie Kosar managed to replace Meehoe at the top after climbing 11 spots on the strength of his second correct Vapor pick. Currently, Uncle Money (8 units, second place) has the best record at 7-5. Captain is the only person who has yet to miss a pick in any particular category, starting off 4-0 in Prime Time Games. Unfortunately, there are several people who have yet to win a pick in a category or another. I will let you know as this last story plays out.
