THE FINAL WEEK

It is finally here!  The biggest weekend of the Major League Lock Club is upon us, and it should be a wild one.  Almost every member has something exciting going on.  Ultimately, it is going to come down to how the remaining Vapor Locks play out.  All three of Gator, The TOMizzle, and AAN are still in the hunt for a title while holding their NFL Night Vapor Lock.  A few interesting facts to ponder:  First, no one has hit an NFL Night Vapor Lock yet.  Second, The TOMizzle hasn’t hit an NFL Night game of any kind.  Third, Gator is the all-time leader in NFL Night game wins (7-5 this season).  Many will have to make a choice as to which prize they are shooting for between trying to finish in the money or simply grabbing the Closest to Zero boobie prize. I will do my best to update the Pick Sheet with possible scenarios as each round plays out.

The Major League Lock Club isn’t singularly about the cheddar, though.  Pride still means something around here.  This weekend will see a few people take their shots at entering the Hall of Fame.

Most Wins in a Season:  The old mark of 23 was set by CDes/Bink last year.  Gator comes into the weekend with 21.  A perfect weekend and he would grab both the prize money and establish his legacy for future generations.

Most Units in a Season:  Silky Johnson and Meehoe each earned 25 units last year.  Gator comes into the weekend with 17 and a Vapor Lock remaining.  

Most College Wins in a Season:  CDes/Bink and Silky Johnson set the number at 9 last year.  Silky Johnson already has 9 and Gator has 8.

Most Units Won on College Games in a Season:  Silky Johnson earned 16 units last season.  He heads into Friday/Saturday with 28.

Most NFL Day Wins in a Season:  Hitman holds this record at 10.  CDes/Bink hope to tie that mark on Sunday.

Winning isn’t everything.  One of the best parts of the MLLC is cheering against your rivals picks.  In that regard, there was a lot to be happy about this season.  Here are some candidates for our Wall of Shame:

Lowest Unit Total for a Season:  Last year, I felt Cento set the bar pretty high.  -33 seemed like an insurmountable total.  Currently, we have three members who could “best” him.

Most 0-3 Weeks in a Season:  The old mark was 3, shared by Captain and Well Tea.  Dirty D has pulled it off four times already.  AAN and The King have come up empty three times and could still grab a piece of that pie.

Most Losses in a Season:  Again, I felt like Cento’s 21 would stand for a while.  I am a fool.  Dirty D has 22.  Golf Coach has 21.  OG Nugg and AAN have 20.  Uncle PJ, The TOMizzle, The King and The Whole F’n Show all have 19.  Who will walk away with this prestigious title?

Most NFL Day Losses in a Season:  Gator missed 9 times last season.  Golf Coach has already equaled that, and The King sits at 8.

Most NFL Night Losses in a Season:  The old record was 8 (held by The King).  The TOMizzle has yet to win an NFL Night Game, going 0-11-1.  Dirty D is right there with him at 1-10-1.

Most Units Lost on NFL Night Games in a Season:  Again, The King holds this record at -10.  The TOMizzle is down 34.  Dirty D is out 29.  Silky Johnson is at -24.
